The Tudung lamp explores how light can create comfort in a space. We also studied how form—what shapes or cues make a space feel familiar and welcoming. We turned to an object already part of daily life: the tudung saji, a common Southeast Asian food cover. Its soft, semi-transparent surface and simple handle provided visual cues that guided the lamp’s proportions and details.

The lamp features a linen shade that gently diffuses light, casting a soft, warm glow. A rattan handle sits atop the shade, while the stand is wrapped in rattan binding to enrich its texture. An andesite stone base grounds the design, providing balance to the lightness above.

By combining materiality with a familiar form, Tudung becomes the kind of light meant to be lived with, helping people feel more present, relaxed, and connected to their home and daily life.
