alvinT x Common Grounds: The Common Lounge at Indonesia Design Week 2026

The Common Lounge by alvinT and Common Grounds at alvinT Gallery, part of Indonesia Design Week 2026

During Indonesia Design Week 2026, alvinT Gallery was transformed into The Common Lounge, a collaboration between alvinT and Common Grounds. The gallery became a more informal setting where visitors could gather around coffee, spend time with alvinT furniture, and engage with the space in a different way.

The lounge brought together alvinT furniture in a more social setting and Common Grounds coffee. Visitors could enjoy filtered coffee made with the xBloom Coffee Maker while sitting, gathering, and spending time in the gallery. People could experience the furniture alongside the simple, everyday ritual of having coffee.

The idea of engaging with design through making continued with On Making: Enamel Workshop, hosted across two workshop sessions in collaboration with Ancala Jewelry and Etching Studio. Participants could choose from three alvinT designs — Lumping, Kelana, and Jiwa — and reinterpret them as enamel pins or charms. Guided through the process by Ancala Jewelry and Etching Studio, participants created their own pieces to take home, giving familiar alvinT designs another form while experiencing the process of making them firsthand.

The gallery then became one of seven destinations featured in Design Hoppers, connecting visitors to seven different brands and design practices across Indonesia Design District. Through a passport and stamp-based journey, visitors moved between alvinT, BIKA, Box Living, Fredhelligh, Luar, Pavilion120, and Stellamobili, completing missions and discovering each destination along the way. At alvinT, it offered another way for visitors to encounter the collection and the gallery as part of a wider design community.

This year, alvinT also collaborated with KREYO to introduce FIQA textiles through a selection of alvinT furniture. Selected pieces were upholstered in FIQA’s indoor-outdoor fabrics, including a special colour selection developed exclusively for alvinT. The collection explores how furniture can move naturally between indoor and outdoor living, bringing together the character of alvinT designs with the performance of FIQA textiles.

For alvinT, the gallery has always been envisioned as more than a place to present furniture. We wanted it to be a space where people with a shared interest in design could come together to meet, exchange thoughts, discover new ideas, or simply spend time around the things they care about. During Indonesia Design Week, this came to life in different ways: through coffee and conversation, discovering new spaces and ideas, and experiencing hands-on activities. It felt natural to let design and everyday moments come together in this way. The gallery is not only a place to see what we make, but a place to meet the people, ideas, and experiences that surround it.
